Recommending A Good, Reliable Chinese Physician/Doctor To You…

A Chinese Physician applying the art of Chinese Pulse Diagnosis

A Chinese Physician applying the art of Chinese Pulse Diagnosis to check a patient’s health

Hi there, dear friends :D

I fell sick with a bad sore throat, fever, cough and cold over the weekend and I quickly headed over to my regular Chinese Physician this morning. Yesterday, I was coughing very badly (so badly that the Chinese would joke that our liver can be coughed out in my situation!) and I woke up today with a splitting headache and no energy to do anything.

Three hours after drinking the first dose of my Chinese medicine upon coming home, my energy level is now up, my frequent coughing has dwindled down to the occasional one… and I am beginning to feel some normalcy returning! Well…at least enough for me to write a new post here for you . LOL!

On A Quest To Reduce My Husband’s Dependency On Medication For High Blood Pressure/Cholesterol/Urea & Diabetes

Hi there, dear friends :D

My husband encountered his first gout attack way back in 1994 and has been on Allopurinol 300mg once daily for treatment.

In mid 2009, our family physician made him go for tests to check his health and my husband was found to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high urea acid and diabetes. On top of that, the doctor said my husband’s kidneys were not functioning optimally.

When a friend heard about my husband’s health problems, he taught me to make the Tateshi Kasu Miracle Vegetable Soup  for my husband.

Tateshi Kazu Miracle Vegetable Soup

After consuming that soup regularly for around 1 year, my husband went for another round of blood tests, which revealed some good news – his kidneys were working properly already, blood pressure was around 120/30, cholesterol and urea acid levels were normalised…and his blood sugar went down slightly to 6.4 mmol/L, an improvement from 7.2 mmol/L before taking Glucophage 850mg twice daily. :D

Last year, his blood tests showed that his blood sugar went up again, with medication, to 7.2 mmol/L. The doctor had wanted to increase his Glucophage dose but my husband said that he will try to control his diet  to bring down his sugar level.

A pot of Kuding Tea, unfurled Kuding Leaves, a cup of Kuding Tea, Dried Kuding Tea/Nails

Hi there, dear friends :D

I was introduced to this amazing tea called Kuding Cha by George from Singapore who had commented  at my “Amazing, Inexpensive Jiaogulan/Immortality Tea” post earlier  (Comment # 65) – I will copy his comments below so that you will learn about this wonderful bitter tea.  His health has improved tremendously after drinking the Kuding Cha for a few months, but most importantly, his diabetic blood sugar level has dropped to a prediabetes level.  My husband is also a diabetic and I am hoping that this tea will help lower his blood sugar level, and hopefully, wean him off his medication as well. As such, all credit of this post goes to George for leading me to Kuding Cha.

My Review Of The Amazing Jiaogulan Tea – It Can Really Help You To Lose Weight, Improve Complexion, Age Gracefully, Relax, Strengthen Body, Enhance Immunity/Health, Remove Peri/Menopause Effects, Restore Good Sleep, Give Energy!

A box of 40 Jiagulan teabags at RM6-50 or USD2-10 only

Hi there, dear friends :D

For those of you new to this tea, do read my earlier introduction post on Jiagulan Tea HERE for its background information and how I stumbled upon this inexpensive but yet very powerful health tea.

My daily “dosage” of Jiaogulan Tea ===> at least 3 to 4 cups daily; sometimes up to 7 cups on those days I need more energy for increased physical activities. On average, I would say that I drink 5 cups of that tea daily.

Tips  ===> It helps to take the tea right after lunch and dinner for better digestion and “cut the oil/fat” from the food.  Be sure to continue drinking water while on this tea and to spread the consumption of this tea evenly throughout the day for best effect.

I will now go straight into my feedback and review after having drank the Jiaogulan Tea  (3 to 5 cups daily) for slightly more than 1 month. During that period, I refrained from drinking other types of herbal teas, coffee and tea, so that whatever effects I felt can be attributed to this tea alone  .

My Home Remedies For Ailments Arising From Stomach Wind – Headaches, Bloatedness, Nausea, Pains

A hearty, yummy bowl of Chinese Herbal Lamb Soup to warm the stomach

Hello there, dear friends :D

This year, my stomach is acting up quite often and I have to really watch my food intake and diet.   Some foods that seemed alright  previously somehow do not agree with my stomach this year…hmmm,  must be a sign of getting old for me!

As usual, I would ask my lady healer friend for advice when I go to her for a healing massage. She said my stomach is prone to developing wind and the reason is due to the weather this year! Yes, she said the weather is the cause of my problem.

I was very surprised that the weather can affect our health in such a manner, i.e. stomach ailments.

My stomach is developing wind more frequently and I end up having nausea, indigestion, headaches and even migraines, bloatedness….all resulting from wind.

Even  my husband and my eldest daughter had wind-related problems. My husband had very bad neck, shoulder and upper left arm pains. He thought he had sprained those areas somehow or perhaps, it could be due to work stress. Seeing a doctor for treatments over a week didn’t relieve his pains at all. Finally, a visit to my lady healer friend revealed that my husband’s stomach was producing wind and it was a bad case of wind that resulted in his neck/shoulder/arm pains.

As for my eldest daughter, she  experienced mild nausea every day, especially towards the evening. Her doctor checked her health and couldn’t find anything wrong with her. She was prescribed some antibiotics, but that didn’t help with her nausea at all. Although her nausea was mild, it was a discomfort and a distraction. So, I brought her to my healer friend who said my daughter was suffering from stomach wind.

In both my husband and daughter’s cases, my healer friend recommended them to take the “5 Pagoda” brand (called “Ng Tarp San” in the Cantonese dialect)  of Chinese medicine that was a product of Thailand (see picture below). She said this is the most effective solution for stomach related problems like wind, nausea, indigestion, etc. I asked her about the “Po Chai” brand of pills and she said this Thai one is even better.

Top – Bak Foong Yuen for removing wind from body. Bottom – 5 Pagoda Powder for Removing Wind from stomach

Both my husband and daughter took just one dose of the 5-Pagoda Powder in the morning, before breakfast and on an empty stomach, and they did this for one week. Wow, they recovered from their pains and nausea respectively by the end of the week! :D

For me, I have been taking this powder when I feel I am burping a lot or my stomach starts to feel like a balloon. Although the 5-Pagoda Powder doesn’t taste good as in any Chinese herbal powder, I really love the strong minty and cool taste it has. My stomach feels immediately soothed after I take the powder.

After taking the 5-Pagoda Powder for a week, my healer friend told me to make a hearty Chinese Herbal Lamb Soup (picture at the top) to warm back our stomach.  Below are the ingredients for that soup :-

Chinese Herbs For Lamb Soup – carrots, 2 honey dates, red dates, Wai San, Yook, dried longans, Kei Jee, Pak Kei and Tong Sum

500 gms of Lamb Shanks and Ribs

Instructions

1) Bring 2 litres water to a boil in a pot on the stove top.

2 Put in the Chinese herbs and lamb. Bring water to a boil. Skim off any scum that come to the surface.

3) Lower heat to small and simmer for 2 hours.

4) Season with some salt to taste and serve immediately.

In addition to warming up the stomach, this soup is also good to improve one’s energy, stamina and overall good health.

I also bought a bottle of “Tiger Stork” brand ( “Fu Hock Yau” in the Cantonese dialect) of medicated oil which was recommended by my healer friend for applying on the stomach for relieving gastric or winds stomach pains. I had complained to her that my “Minyak Angin” and “Yu Yee Yau” didn’t help at all in removing wind. She said to just apply the “Tiger Stork” oil on the our middle back and then on our stomach areas. Then our stomach would be soothed.

Tiger Stork Brand of Medicated Oil for treating  stomach ailments and wind

So, these are my home remedies for stomach ailments. Hope you can find them in your area as they brought a lot of relief to my family. The medicated oil and 5-Pagoda powder cost about RM5-00 or so and I bought them from some Chinese Medicing shops. in Kepong.

In my next post, I will share with you a wonderful Chinese medicated oil which is really good in treating cuts and burns and can stop bleeding almost instantaneously.

With best wishes for good health,

choesf :D

Tateishi Kazu’s Miracle Vegetable Soup For Health & Brown Rice Tea – Alternative Health Therapy For Treating High Blood Pressure, Diabetes & Other Illnesses; For Skin Rejuvenation, Slowing Aging Process ….

Note – The comments section in this post is closed for some reason.

Discussion is continued further HERE.

Ingredients for  Miracle Vegetable Soup

Clockwise from top – Carrots, Fresh Shitake Mushrooms, White Radish or Daikon WITH Leaves, Burdock Root (Gobo, or Ngau Pong in Cantonese)

Disclaimer – Please read HERE & HERE, before you proceed with this soup. This soup is only an alternative health remedy. Please read the COMMENTs below for the health benefits experienced by those who have tried the vegetable soup for themselves.

Good morning, dear friends :D

My husband was just diagnosed with diabetes (his mom was a diabetic) and put on medication by his doctor. However, the diabetes medication made him hungry all the time – if he keeps on eating to satisfy his hunger, then he puts on a lot of weight; but if he doesn’t eat, then he goes hypoglaemic and gets lightheaded.

On top of that, he is on medication for high blood pressure, too. Both medicines are to  be taken for the rest of his life – not very happy news for my husband, who unfortunately leads a very sedentary lifestyle (no exercise at all  ) and who loves his carbs (hot steamed rice with tau yew bak, Hokkien Mee, etc).

Last weekend, I met a friend whom I have not seen for a few years and when I told him about my husband’s health condition, he told me there is a soup remedy that can regularise a person’s blood pressure as well as his diabetes. His wife makes this for his family to drink everyday.

Most importantly, he described to me his friends’ experiences whereby one successfully got off his high blood pressure medication (after his doctor confirmed his blood pressure is back to normal), and an elderly lady who was weak in her legs, regained her strength and could walk normally without any aid. Another lady used to run out of breath just crossing the road and after 3 days of drinking this soup, she even got her neighbour to take a brisk walk with her around the park. :D

Wow, was I impressed    – this soup really has miraculous health benefits. Apparently, the recipe and information of this soup has been circulating in Taiwan and Malaysia for many years, in Chinese magazines and newspapers. I couldn’t read any Chinese and so I didn’t come across this wonderful soup. My friend told me this soup is known in Cantonese as “Ng Sik Tong”  (5 Colour Soup), and gave me the recipe for it. I was fascinated and wanted more information. Very fortunately, a search over the Internet came up with “Takeshi Kazu’s Life Extension Soup with Brown Rice Tea.” :D

I quickly went to the market on Sunday, bought all the necessary vegetables and brown rice and prepared the soup and tea for my family.

Today is the fourth day that my family is drinking the soup and tea and I’m glad to say that we are seeing some good results already. I will post my family’s day-to-day experience in the COMMENT BOX below.

The vegetable soup and brown rice tea are so easy to make, and they don’t cost much…it is worth trying it for the sake of good health. It is better than taking hundreds of dollars worth of vitamins and supplements…..the soup and tea only cost a fraction, certainly very affordable and  best is, it can  treat a whole lot of ailments for the entire family! :D

There is a wealth of  information on this incredible soup legend below (resources from a translation of his article in Taiwan and from HERE) :-

What the Miracle Vegetable Soup may do -

  • Heal Cancer
  • Restore injured joints and bone structure
  • Slow down the aging process
  • Rejuvenate the skin
  • Heal Cataracts
  • Heal liver disorders
  • Lower high blood pressure
  • Improve heart conditions
  • Reduce brain tumors and other head-injury problems
  • Reduce high white blood cell counts
  • Improve T-cell function

How did this soup come about :?:

Tateshi Kazu based his soup on the principles of Five Elements theory, the harmonizing balance of the forces of yin and yang, acid and alkaline, that engenders health as opposed to the imbalance, which leads to disease.

The five elements in our environment are wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Because of the balance of the five elements, the earth is able to produce life.

Each essence possesses its own color: green, red, yellow, white and black. These relate to the corresponding internal organs: heart, liver, spleen, lung and kidneys. He used the concept of the five different colors as matched to specific vegetables.

  • Green = Daikon Radish Leaves
  • Red = Carrot
  • Yellow = Burdock Root
  • White = Daikon Radish
  • Black = Shittake Mushrooms

What is so special about the soup is its composition of ingredients – vegetables that are so commonplace, simply what we usually have on our dining table, and they are so very affordable. For whatever physical disorder and symptoms, what it takes is just another cup of ordinary “vegetable soup” a day.

Vegetable Soup Recipe

Ingredients (for 2 days’ quantity)

  • 16 ounces or 450 gm white radish/ daikon
  • 8 to 10 ounces or 225 to 380 gm white daikon greens
  • 8 to 10 ounces or 225 to 280 gm carrots
  • 8 ounces or 225 gm fresh burdock root (also known as  Gobo in Japanese, Uang in Korean, Ngau Pong or Niu Pang in Chinese) [if using dried burdock root, use only 2 ounces or 1/4 of fresh amount required]
  • 3-5 fresh shitake mushrooms (sundried) – if not sundried, expose dried mushrooms to sun again. This is to convert the good stuff into Vitamin D in the mushrooms (refer to information on mushrooms below)

Directions:

1. Don’t peel anything! Don’t add any seasoning!

2. Fill a pot with three times the quantity of water as the vegetable.

3. When it comes to a boil, reduce the flame and simmer for two hours.

4. Strain and drink.

5. Store in refrigerator immediately when cool to avoid losing any of the soup’s goodness. Be sure to store in stainless steel pots or glass containers as the soup may react with other materials (especially aluminium)

Below is my pot of Miracle Vegetable Soup:-

Some possible “getting-well” temporary reactions

After taking it for a few days, this soup prepared from only five kinds of vegetables will have different effects on individuals, but these reactions are much milder than actual physical disorders and are only temporary.

The formula is basically working on our different internal mal-functions and toxins, some we may not even be aware of, and those with more problems will have more instant and longer reactions on the particular problem areas.

These will be normal detoxification effects like itchy skin or eczema and increased frequency of bowel movements, etc. Varying with different toxins in different individuals, the following conditions may be felt.

  • More instant and intense reactions for those with more problems Reactions less noticeable and in stages for the less focused
  • Seemingly no reactions for those who are in better health and with better adaptability
  • More vigorous reactions for the weak and feeble

Whatever the reactions, it is recommended to continue normal consumption, and the reactions will ease out in a short period of time.

The health of modern man is under constant threat of air and water pollutions, chemical additives and preservatives in food and agricultural products and all kinds of environment toxins. Our body becomes more acidic, and the very precious inborn immune system is declining. To avoid developing chronic diseases and cancer, our body need to be properly cleansed and maintained.

“Getting-well reactions” are normal detoxification effects in accelerating body cell activities, enhancing metabolism and strengthening of the immune system, building up stronger body resistance. When these effects are felt, our detoxification system is awakened and activated; this shows the progress of healing, and the more vigorous they are, the more toxic our body is that need proper care and management.

Nutritional value of the five vegetables

Radish

Radish is very rich in vitamin C, ten times more than that in pears and apples. It also has plenty of digestive enzymes, particularly of starchy foods, that help mend the stomach membrane, improve the secretion of digestive liquids and promotes energy circulation, preventing gastritis, ulcer in the stomach and excess of hydrochloric acid in gastric juice. It also has anti-cancer properties INDD that checks the growth of cancer cells and dissolves ammonium nitrate that is cancer causing.

Radish leaves

The abundance of nutrients found in radish leaves is amazing. It has three times as much Vitamin A as that in livers and eels, 60% more of Vitamin B1 than that in fermented soybeans, two times as much Vitamin B2 as that in cow’s milk. It is extremely rich in iron and is an ideal food for nourishing blood. Radish leaves are the richest in Vitamin C, two and a half times as that in tangerines, four times as that in spinach, so discarding the leaves when eating the radish is really a waste. Radish leaves have a slightly pungent but pleasant and smooth taste. It is a very nutritious green-leaf vegetable that maintains a balance with the properties of the other part of the same plant: the edible part of the radish root. The special quality of the radish root and its leaves is another wonder and mystery of nature

Carrot

Carrot is rich in Beta Carotene, a very strong antioxidant, and other minerals that are easily absorbed by the human body. The body changes Beta Carotene into Vitamin A, which is important in strengthening the immune system and promoting healthy cell growth. It is also rich in lignin and INDD that help fight cancer and boost up two to three times the human immunity.

Mushroom

Mushrooms are rich in dietary fibres, and minerals like potassium, iron, etc. It is high in B vitamins and ergosterol that will be converted to Vitamin D in the presence of sunlight, which is essential for utilization of calcium. Mushroom has a polysaccharide compound called lentinan which helps produce T-cells to destroy bacteria and viruses and has anti-cancer, anti-tumor effects, strengthening the immune system and fighting disease-causing organisms. Zinc and selenium in mushrooms also activate thymus in the chest that helps in T-cell production. Amino acids in mushrooms arealso effective for liver diseases.

Burdock

Dietary fibre in burdock is the richest among all root vegetables, which is best for prevention of diseases of the large intestine. It is also rich in minerals like potassium, magnesium, phosphorous, iron, calcium, etc. There is equal proportion of soluble and insoluble fibres that stimulate lactic acids, improve constipation and the discharge of cholesterols. It also enhances blood circulation, relieves internal wind and heat, clearing the lung and diminishing eczema, edema and body toxins, preventing cancer and arteriosclerosis. Its iron content makes it a good food supplement for ladies for skin-care purposes.

Brown Rice Tea Recipe

Another remedy that can be used in conjunction with the vegetable soup is brown rice tea. It is a good diuretic for ridding excess water from the body.

For diabetics, it can bring the sugar level down by producing more natural insulin in the body. It cleanses the blood and blood vessel.

A person with a heart condition drinking both soups in 20 days will be able to regulate their problem by drinking three cups per day. up

For a regular cancer patient, about two cups.

Ingredients :

1 cup (250 cc or ml size) or 300 gms or 10 ounces brown rice

16 cups or 4 litres or 4 quarts water

Note: only cook in stainless steel or glass. Do not mix with any other ingredients. Don’t be “creative.”

Untoasted, unwashed, raw brown rice

Brown Rice that has been dry roasted in my wok to a dark brown colour

(the white specks are white rice that came with the brown rice)

Directions:

1. Roast the rice without oil until dark brown but don’t burn.

2. Boil 8 cups of water and pour roasted rice into water.

3. Turn off flame, cover and let sit five minutes.

4. Strain out rice and reserve liquid.

5. Boil 8 more cups of water.

6. Put the remaining rice back in the water.

7. Cover, lower flame and simmer five minutes.

8. Strain rice out.

9. Mix the two rice waters together. Drink when cool.

Brown Rice Tea in my stainless steel pot, ready for drinking

Special Notes:

  • The amount one needs depends on the condition. The more serious the condition, the more tea.
  • Do not drink tea while taking a high protein substance.
  • Don’t drink the vegetable soup and brown rice tea together. Wait at least 15 minutes apart.
  • If you use this remedy regularly you will never be sick.

Some possible reactions:

  • itchy skin or eczema
  • If you use medications and/or have eczema, use less because of possible stronger reaction
  • People with head injury problems may develop headaches but don’t worry.
  • People with eye problems may get temporary blurred vision or itching around eyes. Eyesight will get better. If you wear prescription glasses, try to reduce the prescription and use glasses less frequently.
  • Lowering of body temperature, but this is normal.

*** Notes: For high blood pressure, drink the two soups alternately but slowly. Blood pressure will come down after one month. Talk to a doctor about reducing medication, but don’t stop medication right away. Use remedy for minimum of one month.

*** Notes: If you are on medication, do consult with a doctor to adjust your dosage. This remedy works for some people. It may not work for you. It is not intended to replace the traditional treatments.

I’m also keeping my fingers crossed that my husband will have his blood pressure and glucose/sugar level restored to normality so that he can get off his medication. Because he is working and he is taking Western medication, I can only give him one cup (250 ml) each of soup and tea (he’s supposed to take up to 3 cups each per day) on weekdays and so, his healing rate will be later than the one month mentioned.

Another word of caution – take the soup and tea separately (with half to one hour apart), and take them one hour after consuming Chinese medicine and two hours after Western medicine. This is to prevent contraindications.

Good Luck! With best wishes for good health,

choesf :D
